HISTORY
Jon is the son of Lyanna Stark and Rheagar Targaryen although he does not know this. Lord Eddard Stark, Lyanna stark's brother, took him in when his parents died. He named him his bastard giving him the name Jon Snow. Jon was raised amount lord Eddard and lady Catelyn's true born children. He was taught, like the other children, how to be a lord. Jon didn't feel like he always feel welcomed by the Starks, Lady Stark was the main cause of this. He did how ever get along with the children, especially Robb and young Arya. Him and Arya had the look of the Starks while all the other children more looked like their mother. Arya felt, like Jon, that she didn't fit in and even confined in him her fears of also being a bastard. Robb was his best friend and a rival in everything. They where constantly together. As he grew older jon felt more an more alienated in winterfell and decided he wanted to join the nights watch like his uncle Benjen. The nights watch was a place where his birth status would not matter. Everyone one where brothers in the nights watch. No one was different to anyone else and Jon felt that this could be the place he belonged.
At the age of fourteen Eddard took Jon and his brothers, all except Rickon, to an execution of a nights watch deserter. On their way back to winterfell they came across a litter of dire wolves who's mother had died. Bran protested when their father wanted to kill the pups and after a quick count of the pups Jon made an argument that his father couldn't deny and saved the dire wolves lives insisting that it was a sign from the gods and his kids where meant to have the pups. They where about to leave when Jon found a sixth pup and therefore ended up with a pup of his own. His pup was white with red eyes and had barely made a sound so Jon named him ghost and like a ghost he was. He followed Jon everywhere.
As Jon grew closer to adulthood his uncle suggest that the nights watch could use men like him. Before he leaves for the wall he gets to see the royal caravan arrive at winterfell, even if he was shut out of the feast. While the royal party was in winterfell, his younger half brother Bran, takes a fall of a wall and has not awoken when Jon has to leave. Jon says his goodbyes to a comatose Bran, Robb and gives Arya a sword which she names needle.
Tyrion Lannister joins Jon and his uncle on their trip to the wall. Once at the wall Jon becomes disappointed with the skill level of the othe new recruits when he easily bests them in battle. His disgust quickly changes to sympathy when things are explained to him and he takes on a mentoring role to the others helping them to be their best. When Samwell arrives at the wall, Jon becomes becomes sort of a protector of him and helps to bring out the best in him. Time passes and Jon and the others join the ranks of the nights watch. Jon is angered when he is given the position of a steward and it is Samwell who explains the importance of his new role to him. He is being groomed by The Lord commander for a position of command.
jon saves the life of The Lord commander when a white walker attacks him. In the process he burns his hand. In thanks for this, The Lord commander gifts him with a Valerian steel sword, named long claw. The sword had been a Mormons heirloom and was refitted with a direwolf on the pommel and was named long law. Jon tried to refuse the gift but was made to take it.
Even though Jon has now found his place in the nights watch, when he hears of the death of his father and Robb heading for war he goes to leave the wall but is stopped by his friends. He is chastised the next by The Lord commander and told to ready himself for the nights watch is going beyond the wall in search for his uncle who had been missing now for a couple of months.
When Jon when North of the wall he was kidnapped by wildlings after he had to chase down Ygritte. He is then forced to kill Qorin Halfhand in a attempt to win over the trust of the wildlings. Their ruse worked and Jon joins with the wildlings even climbing over the wall with them. After this he deserts them and is nearly killed by his then girlfriend Ygritte who he broke his vows to be with. He arrives back at the wall and takes a couple of days to recover from his wounds before he can warn the watch of the approaching 10 000 strong army they would have to face.
Jon offers a few suggestions to help the defence of the wall over the following weeks but most are shut down, mainly by the acting commander Alliser Thorne. He is however allowed to take a group to take on the group who killed Lord Commander Mormont, though this is likely due to Alliser hoping he would die in the attempt. The mutineers are hold up at Craster's keep and after defeating them, this is where Jon finds Ghost. Jon arrives back at the wall with his faithful companion and the group of brothers he went with. The defence of the wall is continued until the wildling army arrives.
At the beginning of the battle with the wildlings, Jon is situated on the wall with the archers with Alliser Thorne. When the grouping of wildings attack from behind, Alliser leaves Janos in charge of the wall and goes down to defend the castle. After realizing the uselessness on Janos Slynt, Jon's friends come up with a plan to get him off the wall and leave Jon to organise the defence there. Jon does so until the threat to the castle grows and he is forced to leave the wall to others and descend with his friends to defend their home. Jon quickly losses track of his friends on the ground and is unaware of their fate until the end of the battle. During the battle he comes face to face with Ygritte and while the two stare at each other, unsure what to do. Ygritte is shot and killed by another. She dies in his arms. The battle is stopped not long after her death and Jon heads beyond the wall to discuss peace with Mance Ryder. It is while he is doing this that Stannis arrives at the wall and the watch has its victory over the wildlings.
The remaing wildings and Stannis and his men are found rooms in Castle black though it is yet unsure what will happen to the wildlings until a new lord commander is chosen. When Jon is offered to be legitimised and made Lord of Winterfell if he supports Stannis's claim to the iron throne, Jon is once again torn between his oath to the watch and the dreams he once had as a child. In the end he goes with his heart. He had already given up so much for the watch and had long ago given up on his dreams to be Lord of Winterfell. That had always been his brothers place in life, not his. His decision is further made when he is nominated and wins the vote for Lord Commander and he is named the 998th Lord Commander of the Nights watch.

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLES
Jon walked into the dinning hall with his brothers and friends, his frown the only sign of his displeasure of being placed as a steward of the Nights Watch. He took a seat beside Same and Pyp as he listened to the others seething inside at the injustice of it all. He had always wanted to be a ranger like his uncle and he was the best swordsman out of the lot of him and the Watch was still going to make him play maid to The Lord commander. He looked at Sam when the other man tapped his shoulder, "you don't understand what they are doing do you?", the other man said and Jon frowned at how easily the other man had picked up on his anger.
"they are turning me into a made Sam, that is all there is to it", he replied quietly! the other men barely paying attention to them to wrapped up in the own thoughts of officially becoming a man of the nights watch later that day. "No...", Sam would have continued but another man had walked up behind them. Jon jumped to his feet at the voice, his mind not recognising it at first but one look at the man behind him told him exactly who it was. A smile crossed his face as he hugged the man from his past, "not a ranger, but a steward and not even that officially yet", he replied. "I have to take my vows first", he continued, his disappointment at the position clearly showing on his face.
A call for Sam and Jon came from the front of the hall and Jon knew it was time for him to take his vows, "Care to see what lies beyond the wall Jason?", he asked, hoping that the watch would not take away his moral support at the biggest decision in his life.
